現在許多高中生經常抱怨作業太多，沒有課外的社會生活，甚至有時根本無法按時完成作業，但仔細想想，作業太多是造成這個結果的唯一原因嗎？也許答案是 “不”。那么造成這個的根本原因是什么呢？是不會時間管理。4月44日，Steven Bradly老師給我們做了一個演講，主題就是如何管理自己的時間。
時間是我們生命中最重要的東西。但現在似乎出現了一種通病——拖延癥。拖延癥是指把感興趣的不太緊急的任務提前到更加緊急的任務之前，或者說做一些有趣的 事情來取代那些無趣的東西，將迫在眉睫的事情拖得更晚些，有時會在截止時間前的最后一分鐘才上交任務。Bradley先生說每一個人都喜歡做有趣簡單的事 情，但應該考慮一下什么是要先去做的，什么事情更加重要，去做重要的事情，而不是浪費時間。他還說現在許多人喜歡在同一時間做許多事情，但大多數情況下應 該專注在一件事情上，這樣會更有效率。
然后Bradley先 生讓我們做了一個小測試，測試里簡單的小問題可以反映出我們是否可以很好地管理時間。得分在十分以下的是說你管理得 不錯，大部分學生的分數在十分到二十 分之間，有一位同學的分數甚至達到了二十三分。這個結果證明了我們做得不夠，應該做更多的努力來提升自己管理時間的能 力。
Nowadays, we high students often complain that there is so much homework that we don’t even have time for our social life. We even cannot finish our homework on time. But if one thinks further about this problem, he may wonder if “too much homework” is actually the cause of this issue. The answer is probably ‘No.’ Then what is the root of all this? It is poor time management. On April 22, Mr. Steven Bradley gave us a speech about how to manage our time. In the beginning of the speech, he gave us two riddles: What flies but has got no wings? And this thing devours all, birds, beasts, trees, flowers, gnaws iron, bites steel, grinds hard stone to meal, slay kings, ruin towns, and beats high mountains down. The answer to these two riddles is “Time” Time files and it beats down the mountains and kills the kings.
Time can be the most important thing in our life. But these days there seems to be an epidemic——Procrastination. Procrastination is the practice of carrying out less urgent tasks in preference to more urgent ones or doing more pleasurable things in place of less pleasurable ones, and thus postponing impending tasks to a later time, and many a time to the ‘last minute’ before a deadline. Mr. Bradley said everyone liked to do fun or easy things, but one should think about the priority judging by importance, and then start with the more important ones to avoid wasting time. He also said many people today likely conduct multi-tasks, but we high school students should learn firstly to concentrate on one thing, as that would be more effective.
Then Mr. Bradley let us do a little quiz. The little and simple questions can show if we can manage our time well. The score blow 10 points means one can do pretty well, but most of our score were between 10 to 20. One student in my class even got 23. This result showed that we were not familiar with time management. Therefore we should do more do improve on it.
At last, Mr. Bradley assigned us an interesting task to write down that we would do in the next two days and check which one was what we should do and which one was what we liked to do. He suggested if we do this task every day, it can help us to get into a good habit of managing our time well.
